Number Series

In a number series, the number changes in accordance with certain specify rule/order. Read the series given in the questions carefully and find out which rule/order the series is following. Questions are based on number series are mainly of two types :-

1. Type A - In this type of questions, a place is left blank or is replaced by a question mark.

2. Type B - In this type of questions, a number which must come at a certain place is replaced by a wrong number. We have to decide which of the given alternatives will come in the place of the wrong number.

Type - A

Some important rules of the questions asked in this type of number series :

1. Arithmetic series :- In arithmetic series the number in two continuous series increase or decrease in a definite order. For example -

2. Geometric series :- In geometric series, the next number is obtained by either multiplying or dividing the last one by a definite number. In this type of series there are certain addition/subtraction done along with some division or multiplication.

3. Series of squares and cubes :- In the series of squares and cubes, the number in a series increases or decreases in squares or cubes and which are generally near to certain square or cube.

4. Miscellaneous Number Series :- In the type of miscellaneous number series, the series of numbers can be different. In this number series, numbers can increase/decrease by addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, arithmetic/geometric progression etc. For example -
